A straight answer

Do you need custom software or is a Zapier setup enough?

No-code tools are good, and getting better. Most of the time the honest answer is that you don't need us. Here is how to tell.

When no-code genuinely wins

No-code is the right call more often than software people want to admit. If your setup looks like this, a Make or Zapier build will serve you well for years:

  • ·A handful of connected tools: a CRM, a form, a mailbox, a spreadsheet. Not dozens.
  • ·Standard SaaS with off-the-shelf connectors. You are wiring known apps together, not inventing behavior.
  • ·Low volume. Tens or low hundreds of runs a day, where a missed one is a nuisance, not a lost customer.
  • ·No custom business logic. The rules fit in a few if-this-then steps and rarely change.

If that is you, you do not need us. A good Make or Zapier freelancer will do it well, and we will tell you so on the call.

When it breaks

No-code stops paying off at a predictable set of thresholds. Any one of these is a signal; two or more usually means the automation has outgrown the tool:

  • ·Business logic lives inside the workflow. Pricing, eligibility, and routing rules are spread across steps where no one can read them end to end.
  • ·Data lives across many systems. The same record exists in five tools and none of them agree. Every report starts with reconciliation by hand.
  • ·Volume. Thousands of runs a day, rate limits, and per-task pricing that quietly overtakes the cost of software you would own.
  • ·Anything customer-facing. A portal, a checkout, a status page. Your customers judge you by it, and a patched-together flow shows.
  • ·Silent failures at workflow #40. A scenario errors at 2am, no one is paged, and you find out from a customer a week later.
  • ·The maintenance cliff. Every new rule makes the canvas harder to change. The tool that saved you time now costs it.

Our position

We use both. Where a €30/month connection is enough, we reach for it. Writing software you have to maintain when a no-code step would do is its own kind of waste. Where the logic, the data, or the volume has outgrown the canvas, we write the software instead.

Knowing which line you are on is the expertise. That is what Discovery is for. We trace how work actually moves through your business and hand you an ROI-ranked plan, whether the fix is a Zapier connection or a custom build. You can execute it with us or without us.
